THE BEAVER SHADOW COMBO
|
|
These are the first pair of Beaver Shadow blades that I got ready to make up into finished knives first opportunity I get.
The specifications are as follows:
Shadow - Large knife Overall length - 226mm Cutting edge - 110mm Blade thickness - 4mm Beaver - Small knife Overall length - 190mm Cutting edge - 75mm Blade thickness - 3mm
Both knives are made from certified British AISI 01 Tool Steel.
The larger of the blades - very similar to the original Shadow - is not far removed from the basic Woodlore knife design, so it'll make for a very usable Bushcraft knife.
The smaller blade - a mini version of the Shadow - is ideal as a general use field knife, ideal for skinning and dealing with small game and food preparation etc.
These two knives are only being offered together as a set in either a Piggyback style sheath (but with no Firesteel loop option), or in two separate sheaths as an optional extra (with a Firesteel loop option on the Shadow).
Below are examples of each version as offered.

BEAVER SHADOW SET
This is the very first made up Beaver Shadow set, which I made up for Steven out in Dubai. The handle is top quality undyed natural Masur Birch over brick coloured fibre liners. The Shadow's Sheath is a standard British type with firesteel loop, while the Beaver's sheath is a neck sheath, but can also be worn on the belt.

MY OWN BEAVER SHADOW SET
This is my own Beaver Shadow set with a nicely figured Wenge handle over red fibre liners pinned with three Mosaic pins. The Sheath, somewhat over the top I know, is of the Piggy Back style with a standard belt loop.

NB: As these knives are individually hand made, all sizes are approximate and some minor variations from blade to blade and knife to knife are to be expected...
Also... Handles made from natural materials will often vary in form and look. The piece selected to make the handle from may change considerably by the time it's been shaped and finished. If you want as near to a blemish free perfect 'synthetic' type finished handle, please do not order a handle made from natural materials. With Burl wood especially, minor voids and other irregularities are inherent.
