THE SUPER BUSHMASTER Mk 1 (RWL- 34 Steel)
The story as to how the 'Bushmaster' came into being is told on the Bushmaster page. That story ends here with the introduction of this new blade. My original aim was always to have a substantial superior Woodlore style blade 'with attitude' using RWL-34 steel - arguably the best steel from which to make such a knife.
I've always liked the original W.S. Woodlore knife, but was never too keen on the 01 tool steel it was made from. I honestly thought that eventually, Ray would make a superior version of the Woodlore. Still, that leaves room for someone like me to take the initiative and produce a truly top quality product that deserves the 'Super' prefix.
Shown in the above picture is the 'Super Bushmaster' blade in comparison to a fairly accurate cut out of the original W.S. Woodlore blade. At 4.2mm thick RWL-34 steel and larger overall, it's truly a superb blade in every which way!
Overall length - 220mm (Original - 218mm) Blade length - 110mm (Original - 98mm) Handle length - 110mm (Original - 120mm) Blade thickness - 4.2mm (Original - 4mm) Widest part (at Ricasso) - 35mm (Original - 28mm) Widest part (at start of cutting edge) - 33mm (Original -26mm) Widest part (at pommel end) - 31mm (Original - 30mm) Type of Grind - Scandi (Original - same) Depth of grind - 9mm (Original - 8mm) Pin holes - 3 (Original -2) Lanyard Hole - 1 (Original - 1)
The knife above is my own #01 Super Bushmaster Knife.

REGRET TO SAY THAT DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES I SHALL NO LONGER BE MAKING ANY MORE SUPER BUSHMASTER KNIVES AS I'M UNABLE TO GUARANTEE THE SUPPLY OF THE BLADES ANYMORE.
THEREFORE, THIS PROJECT IS ON HOLD INDEFINITELY. |
